Reachable only by boat or small plane, Tortuguero is a maze of jungle canals on the Caribbean coast, often called the Amazon of Costa Rica. It is one of the planet’s most important sea turtle nesting sites and a haven of dense, dripping rainforest.

There are no roads in. We arrange a scenic drive plus a boat transfer through the canals, or a quick domestic flight from San José.
